On Friday November 21, Ambassador Rabbi David Saperstein met with the board of the Union of Progressive Jews in Germany. He spoke at a reception of the Union in his honor on Saturday and was, as the President of the WUPJ, an honored guest at the gala dinner on the occasion of the annual general meeting of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, addressing its delegates (orthodox and reform) as the only speaker.
On Sunday he met with the rabbis of the General Rabbinical Conference of the Central Council of Jews (all non-orthodox rabbis) before catching the train to Paris. Rabbi Saperstein conveyed his appreciation for the cooperation of all Jewish denominations in Germany, highlighting the progress that progressive Judaism has made in recent years.
