Congregação Israelita Mineira is looking for a young rabbi, preferably up to 35 years old, and fully available to reside and stay for many years in Belo Horizonte.

The new rabbi is expected to:

  • be adaptable to change
  • carry out activities with the CIM Social Department
  • lead / have constant professional development
  • maintain close relationships with the congregation and interface between all age groups.

Congregação Israelita Mineira is the only Reform congregation in Minas Gerais and has 163 member families, representing around 500 individual members. In Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais capital, live 600 families – about 2,000 Jews.

CIM cherish the combination of the traditional and the modern while Jewish traditions. Its religious services are composed of Hebrew prayers sung with old and new melodies. Texts study, group discussions and sermons are part of weekly and community life. 

Jewish and non-Jewish men and are welcome and may participate in events and activities.

CIM offers religious support to the sick, grieving and in crisis. The communal tzedakah fund contributes helps support those in need. 

The congregation offers courses and lectures on Jewish subjects – Jewish education is a priority – and is an active participant in the interreligious dialogue movement. CIM often receives groups of Christians to explain Judaism, its history and practices, and attends ecumenical events.
