Afet seven years of work, the Portuguese translation of “The Torah – A Modern Commentary”, edited by Rabbi Gunther Plaut and first published in 1981, is now available to all Reform congregations in Brazil.
It is with great satisfaction that we inform the formation of the Rabbinic Reform Council of Brazil (Conselho Rabínico Reformista do Brasil – CRRB), composed of Rabbis working in Brazil to join forces and better serve communities.
The fifth rabbinic student meeting of Institute took place at Mishkan, in Buenos Aires, with the presence of Rabbi Sergio Bergman and leaders of Reform communities in Argentina. The kinus brought 12 students together in an environment of study, learning, and growth under the direction of its Dean, Rabbi Damian Karo.

The 4th Tikkun Olam Seminar – an initiative of the Union of Reform Judaism in Latin America and Tamar, the young adult movement of Netzer Olami of the World Union – brought together 25 young Brazilian Jews from Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo, Rio and Brasilia and architecture students from Espírito Santo to renovate the community center of the indigenous community of Vila do Areal.
